SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS

Specific areas of interest include mechanical design environmental conscious for sustainable manufacturing and energy savings, diagnostics and prognostics of electromechanical systems and structures (especially renewable energies), structural health monitoring, experimental measuring systems and techniques for the development of smart meters especially for energy consumption, Non Destructive Techniques (NDT-thermography)

SHORT CV

Pantelis N. Botsaris received the M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, School of Engineering of Democritus University of Thrace (DUTh), Greece. He is a Professor in Department of Production Engineering and Management, School of Engineering DUTh, Greece. He is also the Director of the Laboratory of Mechanical Design (http://medilab.pme.duth.gr). For a number of years he has been the Chairman of the Research Committee and the Deputy Rector for Research and Innovation of the relevant institution. He has many years of teaching experience in courses related to machining, mechanical design and maintenance of technological systems. At the undergraduate level he has taught the following courses: Mechanical Design I (Introduction to Mechanical Drawing), Mechanical Design II (Machine Components), Production Technologies (Conventional Machining and CNC), CAD, Reliability and Maintenance of Technological Systems and Transmission Systems in Industrial plant. At the postgraduate level he has taught the courses of Management of Renewable Energy Systems and the Mechanical Design for Circular Economy. He has published over one hundred twenty (120+) scientific papers in prestigious international and national scientific journals and conferences as well as chapters in collective volumes of books. He has served as a reviewer for numerous scientific journals and international conferences. He has also authored seven monographs and holds three national patents. His scientific interests today focus on mechanical design in circular economy, life cycle analysis, applications of renewable energy sources in production processes, and design and material selection methodologies.
