Course Description

Basic Reliability Concepts, Basic Reliability Functions: Component Lifetime, Reliability Function, Average Operating Time, Availability, Reliability Distributions: Normal, Poisson, Poisson, Binomial, Exponential, Weibull, Reliability of Simple Form Systems: Serial, Parallel, Mixed Order Systems, System Comparisons, Maintenance Process: Basic Concepts, Maintainability, Indicators, Maintenance Policies: Introduction, Maintenance and Failure Recovery, Planned, Preventive, Condition Based Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, Replacement Policies.


Purpose of the course

After the end of the course the student should be familiar with concepts such as:

  • Reliability and availability of a technical system
  • Ways of calculating reliability
  • Maintenance of a technical system
  • Maintenance policies
  • Failure recovery theory
  • Risk analysis, failure type analysis and fault tree analysis
