SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS

Industrial applications of Industrial Ecology and more specifically industrial symbiosis and eco-industrial parks, applications of the circular economy in industrial systems (reuse of by-products-waste and waste heat), the assessment of the environmental sustainability of natural and artificial systems, eco-efficiency with the development and application of appropriate indicators (eco-efficiency indicators), life cycle analysis (Life Cycle planning, design and assessment), industrial metabolism (Material Flow Analysis), quality of the atmospheric environment and indoor air quality, sustainable cities and local metabolism

SHORT CV

Dr. Georgios Gaidajis graduated from the Physics Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1987 and continued with postgraduate studies in Japan after being selected through competitive procedures as a scholar from the Japanese Ministry of Education (Monbusho). He obtained his Master of Engineering in 1990 and his PhD in 1993 with honors from the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Graduate School of Saitama University. He worked for twelve years as Environmental Manager in multinational companies and in industry. From 2006 he is in the Department of Production & Management Engineering, School of Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace. Currently he is Professor and Director of the Laboratory of Environmental Management and Industrial Ecology. He has participated either as a researcher and/or as project manager in many research projects funded by European, national and private sources and has more than a hundred papers in international journals and proceedings of international conferences.
