SHORT CV
Argyrios Anagnostopoulos graduated from the Department in 2015 and obtained his MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems from the University of Surrey in 2016. He completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham in 2020 with distinction. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher there and at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Production and Management Engineering of Democritus University of Thrace, where he also serves as Director of the Laboratory of Materials.
His research focuses on thermal energy storage, advanced composite and nanostructured materials, liquid–solid interfaces, and the valorization of industrial waste for energy applications. In these areas, he has published more than 35 papers, mostly in Q1 journals, with over 550 citations (h-index: 14, Source: Google Scholar). He is also co-inventor of two international patents (US Patent App. 18/836,556, WO2023166044A1).
He received a postdoctoral fellowship from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), within which he developed the project that was awarded by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE, UK) at the Global Awards 2022. He has also been a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellow and is a member of the MSCA Alumni Association. He has acted as principal investigator/co-investigator in several research projects (NCN, HFRI, HORIZON) with a total funding exceeding €1 million.
Finally, he has served as reviewer for leading international scientific journals including Applied Thermal Engineering, Applied Energy, Solar Energy Materials & Solar Cells, Energy, Journal of Cleaner Production, among others.
