Angelos Amanatiadis received his Diploma and his Ph.D. (Hons.) from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, DUTH, Greece, in 2004 and 2009, respectively. His research lies at the intersection of autonomous robotic systems, computer vision, machine learning, and real-time embedded systems. He has received the Stavros Niarchos Award for Promising Young Scientists and a State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) Postdoc scholarship. He is a Senior member of the IEEE and awarded as one of the Transactions “Outstanding Reviewers” in appreciation of outstanding service to the IEEE Society.
His published work includes 3 journal special issues as guest editor, 30 papers in refereed international journals, 3 chapters in books and over 40 papers in international conference proceedings. Ηe holds one patent and has been the technical manager of several European and National R&D projects. He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems and HardwareX Journal and has been member of the program/organizing committee of more than 10 international conferences. He has also served as expert evaluator in research grant funding bodies for the European Commission, the Government of Canada, Italy, Cyprus and Latvia. Many aspects of his research have been prominently featured in wider media, such as, BBC, Bloomberg, RT and also in technology-focused media, such as IEEE Spectrum, Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Engadget. Currently, he is working as the Chief Research Engineer for building the first Hellenic Autonomous Vehicle (HAV) with the aid of deep learning and artificial intelligence.
